Turn a focused local search into a useful, reviewable business dataset.
1. Define your audience and geography
Start with one business category and a specific city or neighborhood. For example, coffee shops in Seattle is easier to evaluate than a broad national query. Decide which fields you need before starting.
2. Run a bounded search
Use the Online scraper or submit one API source page. Review the first results before expanding the work. Keep the job ID so you can return to the same dataset.
3. Review relevance and contact coverage
Check categories, locations, websites, and available contact details. Remove unrelated records and identify duplicates using place identifiers where available. Do not assume every listing contains every field.
4. Export with context
Choose CSV or Excel for review, or JSON for an application. Record the query, source job, and any incomplete coverage. Review applicable policies and requirements before using the data for outreach.
