Run an Online Google Maps scrape

Create a multi-keyword job, follow its durable status, and export the accepted records.

  • Online scraper

The Online scraper turns a list of Google Maps searches into one saved job. Each keyword runs in the cloud, keeps going after you close the tab, and produces its own CSV file when it finishes.

This guide walks through the dashboard exactly as it works today: where to enter keywords, what each job state means, how record allowances are counted, and how to view or download results.

Setup

Before you start

You need a G Maps Crawl account with the Online scraper selected as the active product. Sign in with Google or with a one-time code sent to your email — there is no password. If you also use the API, switch products from the menu at the top of the dashboard sidebar; the two products have separate plans and allowances.

Your plan sets two limits: how many keywords one scrape can contain, and how many records you can collect each month. One returned business counts as one record.

Try a free preview without signing in

The search box on the homepage runs a quick anonymous preview. It submits only the first non-empty line and shows up to 10 businesses with names, addresses, categories, ratings, review counts and phone numbers where available. Previews are limited per day and do not use your workspace credits.

When you want every result, more keywords, or a saved job you can come back to, sign in from the preview and continue in the dashboard.

Step by step

Create the scrape

  1. Step 1: Open New scrape

After signing in, the Online dashboard opens on /dashboard, titled New scrape. The description under the title confirms how many keywords your plan allows per scrape.

  2. Step 2: Paste one search per line

Each line is an independent Google Maps search. Include both the business type and the location, just as you would type it into Google Maps.

  3. Step 3: Select Start scraping

The dashboard creates one durable job containing an ordered search for each keyword and takes you to its detail page at /dashboard/jobs/job_…. The submission uses an idempotency key, so a double click or a flaky connection will not create a duplicate job.

If the button is disabled, check the message under the text box: you may have more keywords than your plan allows, a line longer than 200 characters, or no records left this month.

Better input, better data

Write keywords that return useful results

The dashboard normalizes your list before submitting it:

  • Blank lines are ignored and repeated spaces are collapsed.
  • Duplicates are removed case-insensitively — Cafes in Austin and cafes in austin run once.
  • Each keyword must be 200 characters or fewer.
  • On the Free plan, only the first two distinct keywords are submitted.

Monitoring

Follow the job

The job detail page refreshes automatically every five seconds until the job reaches a final state. You can leave the page at any time — the job keeps running, and you can find it again under Jobs, which lists every job with a state filter.

submitting / runningKeyword searches are being sent to and processed by the cloud scraper.
reconciling / finalizingResults are being imported, checked, and counted.
succeededEvery keyword completed. All CSV files are available.
partialSome keywords completed and some did not. Completed keywords still have CSV files.
failedNo usable result was produced. An error code is shown on the page.
cancel_requestedYou canceled; in-flight work is being stopped and reconciled.
canceledThe job stopped. Units that had already crossed their charging boundary stay committed.

Expected units is the maximum number of records reserved from your allowance when the job was accepted. Accepted units is what was actually settled once results were counted — usually lower. The difference is released back to your allowance. Track both on the Usage page.

View and download each keyword’s CSV

When a job is succeeded or partial, a Keyword CSV files panel lists one file per keyword with its record count. Keywords that returned nothing still produce a file with column headers.

Job controls
